Alumni and Friends Invited to Annual Florida Reunions

Florida-ReunionWith the winter upon us, we invite you to join us in sunny Florida for the 2013 Florida Reunions.

With stops in Ft. Lauderdale, Naples, Sarasota, The Villages and Delray Beach, this year’s Florida Reunions are the perfect opportunity to hear about exciting campus updates, reconnect with fellow alums, and rekindle lasting friendships.

Invitations will be mailed to Florida residents as well as “snowbirds” in the coming month. If you are not a resident of Florida but would like to receive an invitation, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 215-572-2160.

BlankleysRosemary Deniken Blankley ’57, ’06H and her husband, Walter, were recently named 2012 Philanthropists of the Year in Naples, FL.

Long-time benefactors of Arcadia University, the Blankleys support the Guadelupe Center Tutor Corps Program in Immokalee, FL. Through their efforts, three students from the center are attending Arcadia on scholarship. Read more.

Abbey-RyanAbbey Ryan ’03, Visiting Assistant Professor of Art and Design, has been awarded a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts: Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts Project Stream Grant. The funds will help to support Ryan as she completes her work for an exhibit in Spring 2013 at 110 Church Gallery in Philadelphia. Read more.

Bill-GoodwinThe Arcadia community is invited to Stay Young, an artist lecture by Bill Goodwin ’88, on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 4:30 p.m. in the University Gallery Room in Landman Library. Goodwin's lecture is part of the Alumni Artist Lecture Series, established last year to bring alumni back to campus to share their stories of success in the world of art and design. A reception for the 6x6x6 CUBE Exhibition of Seniors will follow in the Judith Taylor Gallery. Read more.

Support AU Basketball on Campus or From Home This Season

womens-basketballThe Arcadia University Men's and Women's Basketball teams have gotten their seasons underway with both performing well early on. You can watch all the games played in the Kuch Center live at www.mac.ezstream.com free of charge.

The women's teams is 4-1 after their first five contests, surpassing their win total from last season already. The Knights are the youngest team in the country with 13 freshman and 14 overall newcomers. Leading the way early on is Victoria Roukas with 12.4 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game. Samantha Caliguri is scoring 9.6 points per game and Dominque Hassinger is adding 9.4 points per game. View season schedule.

The men's team is 2-2 after their first four contests, including a third place finish at the Scotty Wood Invitational hosted by Muhlenberg to start season.

First year head coach Justin Scott has a good mix of veterans and newcomers are continued to gel together as a team. Leading the way for the Knights is Khalief Trawick with 15.0 points per game. Joe Brown is scoring 12.5 points per game and leading the team with 8.0 rebounds per game. Colin McCarthy and Aaron Lee-Webb are also scoring in double figures. View season schedule.
