A Word from the Alumni Director

By Georgene Pilling ’04M

Georgene PillingIt is my pleasure to make a special announcement to the alumni community. I am taking on a new role here at Arcadia, moving from Director of Alumni Relations to Program Director for Alumni Relations. Having served Arcadia University for 14 years, the last 5 1/2 as Alumni Director, I am excited to make this change and take on new responsibilities that will continue to serve you and the University.

For the better part of the past 2 1/2 years, I have been working with alumni leaders to guide the University through an assessment of alumni relations with the goal of increasing alumni engagement on and off campus, locally and internationally. This goal is directly in line with the University priorities that President Oxholm has recently announced, one of which includes an increase in alumni engagement. Read more.

In addition to updated recreational and athletic facilities, the Commons will include student lounges, a new Chat, meeting space and offices, notably for both President Carl (Tobey) Oxholm III and Provost Dr. Steve O. Michael. Read more.

Interested in Robotics?

The Community Service Office is looking for alumni to help with First Robotics on campus when it hosts Bishop McDevitt High School’s team for the First Robotics Competition. The team will work out of the Greenhouse site at Church and Waverly roads and begin moving in and setting up in November.

Robot building begins in January. You do not need a background in science or any previous experience—just enthusiasm and a willingness to mentor current high school students with this project. For more information or to get involved, please contact the Community Service Office at communityservice@arcadia.edu or call 215-572-4000.
