Your Place on the Walk of Pride

The Alumni Fund Walk of Pride winds through the heart of campus starting at the Castle, down past the Wishing Well and ends at the Dining Complex. The Walk contains over 1,500 inscribed pavers for undergraduate and graduate alumni, and your paver could be added too. March 1, 2010 is the deadline for ordering and purchasing a paver to be installed prior to Reunion weekend (June 4-6, 2010). When a gift has been made to Arcadia University, you will receive a brochure with a paver order form. If you need additional information or would like to place your order by phone, please call the Annual Fund Office at 215-572-2124 or e-mail annualfund@arcadia.edu.

Students Honored at Kennedy Center Regional Festival

Arcadia University Theater students earned national awards, regional accolades and the first standing ovation at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for Region II on Thursday, Jan. 14, at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Several students also have been invited to participate in the national festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., in April. Taysha Marie Canales '11 was awarded a Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for Region II Certificate of Merit for Excellence in Ensemble Acting. Read more.

IPCR Alum Named Party Leader

IPCR Alum Named Party LeaderShiral Lakthileka, a 2003 alum of Arcadia's master's program in International Peace and Conflict Resolution, was appointed as the United National Party's Chief Organizer for the Kotte electorate in Sri Lanka, according to Sri Lanka News First. According to Colombo Today, he held "his first Balamandala meeting at party headquarters 'Sirikotha' on Dec. 27" and said he was in the process of formulating his policy manifesto. According to Sri Lanka News First, "He worked as an adviser to the Constitutional Affairs Ministry during the UNF government ...." Read more.

Snapshot: Theater Reception

Dozens of alumni, faculty and staff and family members attended the Arcadian Adventures and College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences Family Day event at the Arcadia University Theater. Children enjoyed a "magical reception" hosted by the Alumni Office and the Arcadia Alumni Association and were able to meet the characters of The Princess Rescuers after the performance on Dec. 5. The Princess Rescuers, written by Paige Hoke '10, weaves an exciting adventure tale for second- through fifth-graders. (Photos)

Lynn Kressel ’70: Law & Order

Lynn Kressel ’70: Law & OrderBy Leandra Cameron '10

Studying Shakespeare and going to the theater several times a week during her semester in London exposed Lynn Kressel '70 to "a world of world of possibilities," she says. Now she's an Emmy-award winning casting director who runs her own New York-based casting agency and has worked on some of the hottest movies and TV shows, including Law & Order. "Being a relatively small college, Arcadia gave me many opportunities I wouldn't have had at a large university. I was exposed to a world of possibilities," she says. Read more.
