Join the Alumni Association for Meeting on May 4
All alumni are invited to attend the Arcadia University Alumni Association's Spring Meeting on Saturday, May 4, at 10:30 a.m. in the Great Room of the Commons. Coffee, tea, and pastries will be served at 9:45 a.m. prior to the meeting. A luncheon will follow.
The Alumni Association is seeking individuals who have strong leadership skills, creative ideas, and are dedicated to the success and future of the Arcadia University Alumni Association. Nominations are now being accepted for three positions on the Alumni Association Steering Committee.

Read the call for nominations for the May 4, 2013 Alumni Association Meeting before submitting nominations. To nominiate an individual, either submit the online nomination form or download the form to print and mail to the Office of Alumni Relations.
Tonight: Deshpande Lectures on Dean's Work
Celluloid film faces threats to its existence from the digital. Dr. Shekhar Deshpande, Professor and Chair of Media and Communication, will discuss FILM, Dean’s 2011 project for the Tate Modern, as a call to arms to preserve her medium.
The lecture will be held on Wednesday, March 20, in the Commons Great Room with a 6 p.m. reception followed by the lecture at 7 p.m. Exploring these and other examples of Dean’s projects, including JG, he will address how digital filmmaking jeopardizes film’s essence, honesty to reality, and its soul.
Social Media in the Job Search, March 28
Alumnae and Human Resource professional Maya Johnson ’97 will present to students and alumni on the proper use of social media in the job search on Thursday, March 28 at 7 p.m. in the University Gallery on the lower level of Landman Library.
Attend and learn how to best use LinkedIn and other social media resources to promote yourself in the professional world.
This presentation will be very informative to alumni who are not as comfortable using social media as well as to alumni parents of high school age children who are preparing to enter the work force or college. Click here to register for this event.
Opening Reception for WalkingStick ’59 Exhibition
The Office of Alumni Relations is pleased to announce an upcoming reception for Kay WalkingStick ’59 latest exhibition on Friday, April 12 from 6-8 p.m. at the June Kelly Gallery (166 Mercer Street, New York, NY).
An award-winning artist, WalkingStick’s paintings are showcased in more than 30 museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., the San Diego Museum of Fine Arts, and the National Museum of Canada, Ottawa.
Her work takes a broad view of what constitutes Native American art, while expressing a native and non-native shared identity. After earning a B.A. in Painting from Arcadia University (formerly Beaver College) in 1959, she completed an M.F.A. from Pratt Institute.

Thursday, March 21: Alumni and Class of 2013 Happy Hour. Welcome Arcadia University’s graduating class to the Alumni Association. Plush, 256 N. Keswick Ave., Glenside, 5-7 p.m. A $3 donation to the Annual Fund will be collected at the door where you will receive a wristband entitling you to Arcadia drink specials.
Friday, March 22: Quad-A hosts March Madness at Arcadia University, Stein Fireplace Lounge, from 6-10 p.m. Bring your bracket and cheer on your favorite NCAA basketball team while enjoying food and beverages. This event is sponsored by Quad-A. Cost is $10 per person.
Wednesday, April 3: Trivia Night at Jerzee's Sports Bar, 2609 Mt. Carmel Ave., Glenside at 8 p.m. Come out and have fun with your friends with a challenging night of trivia fun. No registration necessary.
Thursday, April 4: Financial Fundamentals for Life Decisions, Grey Towers Castle Rose and Mirror Rooms, 7-9 p.m. Nathan Hayward '06, '09M and John Krause '07 present the basics of finances to students and recent alumni. Learn how to budget, buy a car, move out on your own and save for the future.
Saturday, April 6: Southeastern Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra Concert, Great Room, Commons, 8 p.m.
Sunday, April 7: Quad-A Sponsors Philadelphia Wings Game. Cost: $20 Includes ticket and voucher for hot dog, soda and popcorn. The game starts at at 4 p.m. Tickets must be reserved by March 25.
