Alumni Fund Walk of Pride
Constructed in the summer of 1997, The Alumni Fund
Walk of Pride is an exquisite walkway of interlocking paving stones,
suitable for engraving. Located on the eastern side of the main campus
and created to complement the surroundings and grounds, this walkway
offers a distinctive opportunity to recognize our loyal alumni. The autumn-red
pavers in the entrance way near the Castle have been reserved for undergraduate
alumni who graduated before 1995; the Castle-grey pavers have been reserved
for alumni of the various graduate programs. Pavers for alumni graduating
after 1995 begin in an area of the walkway near the Dining Complex. The
international flags lining The Alumni Fund Walk of Pride represent countries
where students can study overseas through the University’s Center
for Education Abroad.
The campus has been the recipient of several gifts donated specifically
for landscaping. Among them is the row of flowering pear trees that flank
the walkway leading from Grey Towers Castle to Kuch Recreation and Athletic
Center. The area near the Dining Complex and The Alumni Fund Walk of
Pride has been landscaped with numerous trees donated in memory of and
in honor of alumni and their families.
