Welcome! The Computer Science and Mathematics Department of Arcadia University offers programs in Computer Science, Computing Technology, Mathematics, and Actuarial Science. In addition, in cooperation with Columbia University, we offer a five year dual degree program in Engineering. We welcome students in all of these disciplines. We are happy to announce that our newest faculty member is Dr Xizhong Zheng, who joined our department in Fall 08. Dr Zheng has Ph.D.'s in both mathematics and computer science. Awards: Renee Starr, Director of the Developmental Math and the Math Lab at Arcadia University, has won the Pennsylvania Association in Developmental Education (PADE) Award for Exemplary Teaching in Developmental Education. Assistant Professor of Computer Science Yanxia Jia has won the Ellington Beavers Fund for Intellectual Inquiry – Faculty Award (2008-2009). Our Department congratulates both! Publications. Professors Louis Friedler, Carlos Ortiz, Yanxia Jia, Ned Wolff, and Xizhong Zheng have all had mathematics or computer science papers published or accepted for publication in 2008. Professors Appelbaum (from the Department of Education), Friedler, Ortiz, and Wolff collaborated on a paper, Internationalizing the University Mathematics Curriculum.
