International Peace and Conflict Resolution

Resolving, Building, Solving, Traveling-Master of Arts Internation Peace and Conflict Resolution

The International Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) degree offers an innovative curriculum that allows students to develop an area of concentration within the discipline of international peace and conflict resolution, build an international network of contacts among the international conflict resolution community, and gain practical experience in the field. Students in this program don't just read about peace and conflict studies, they travel to key sites of international conflict and research real-world solutions. The problem-based research model lets students combine peace studies with examination of international law and organizations, mediation and conflict transformation, public health issues, economic development, environmental sustainability, and international relations. This international peace studies program goes well beyond the concepts of peace studies and human rights by incorporating field work  and incorporates field work and problem-based learning focused on conflict resolution and sustainable development.

The master's degree can be completed in two-years full-time or in three-years for those attending part-time. In the first year of the full-time degree program, students complete a core of 24 graduate credits on campus with the option of 6 additional credits of electives. The off-campus international conflict resolution courses and professional experience, undertaken in the second year, can be coordinated through the Arcadia University Center for Education Abroad. Also, students may earn a dual degree in Master of Arts in International Peace and Conflict Resolution and Master of Science in Public Health.
