Residence Life Staff
The Associate Dean of Students/Director of Residence Life is responsible for the planning, implementation and administration of the entire residence life program. This includes the selection and training of the residence hall staff, the development of residence hall policies and procedures, and the assignment of housing space to new students. The Associate Dean of Students and the members of his/her staff serve as hearing officers for policy violations that occur in the residence halls.
The Assistant Director of Residence Life for Housing and Operations is responsible for assisting with all aspects of housing operations, including but not limited to, housing assignments, key distribution, room change documentation, housing lists and other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Students.
The Assistant Director of Residence Life for Training and Development is responsible for assisting with all aspects of training, development, and selection of the Residence Life staff and other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Students.
The Area Coordinators, or ACs, are responsible for the smooth functioning of the residence halls and apartment-style housing. Their work includes programming, counseling, discipline and coordinating the general operations of their particular area. The Area Coordinators supervise the student staff of the building and provide assistance in the planning and implementation of programs. Area Coordinators are on call for emergencies on a rotating basis for the entire campus.
The Resident Assistants, or RAs, and Apartment Assistants, or AAs, are selected upperclass students who are trained to serve as members of the Student Affairs Staff. Resident Assistants are assigned to a residence hall floor where they serve as peer counselors and as referral and information resources. RAs also organize hall activities and act as student representatives in relaying information to and from the Student Affairs Office. Apartment Assistants are assigned to a specific apartment complex where they serve as peer counselors and as referral and information resources. The AAs also sponsor activities within the apartments complexes.
The Desk Receptionists are undergraduate students who play a vital role in maintaining security within each residence hall during peak traffic times. Desk Receptionists monitor and register guests coming in and out of the residence halls.
