Alan Powell
Video Art
         Alan Powell has been working in video and electronic imaging since the early 1970's. He has worked in collaboration with Connie Coleman since 1979. Their work includes single channel videotapes, video installations, print making and paintings. Their work has been exhibited throughout the United States. Alan Powell currently is an Associate Professor at Arcadia University teaching video, web design, travel writing and senior thesis. Connie Coleman (1947-2011) was a professor of computer animation at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Their recent work includes "Songs of a Woman's Place" a video portrait of the women and children who are victims of domestic violence and the staff that helps them begin the healing process. This installation was on view at the James Michener Museum of Art during the Summer of 2002. Their most recent work includes "Just South of Here" a photographic journal of Coleman/Powell in Central America and India. Their work is part of the Experimental Television Center Archives at Cornell University.
