Campus NewsLaura Polaski '08: Designing a Future “The internship exposed me to design programs that I wasn't exposed to in class and that I now use on a daily basis for my job,” she says. “I was also given real deadlines on specific projects and jobs, which is very important in the advertising industry I am apart of now.” Polaski currently works as a Production Artist for Universal Health Services, Inc. in King of Prussia. Her responsibilities include designing advertisements, creating Web banners and flash projects, and assisting the graphic designers with print jobs. “The design field is very competitive and employers are looking for experience,” she says. “You don't get ‘real’ experience in the classroom so it is best to go out and look for it yourself. Even if the internship doesn't pay, volunteering your time will benefit you and help you get a real job once you graduate college.”
