The community organizations truly appreciate the students’ work. “Thank you so much for sending such an enthusiastic and hard working group to High School Park this morning,” says Diana K. Weiner, Restoration Manager of Friends of High School Park. “In three hours, these awesome young men and women were able to complete many tasks. A destructive storm on Aug. 2 raised the creek level, and we had an incredible amount of trail repair to do. The Arcadia students came to our rescue! A large group of students worked on that project rolling large logs back into place and re-wood chipping our trails. Other groups cleared vistas from vine strangled trees and fences. Others made our trail steps safer for the visitors of the park. At the end of their morning’s journey, we had piles of brush cleared and ready for pick up for the Cheltenham Township to compost.” “What a great bunch of students you sent to us yesterday for our volunteer day at the Vintage Thrift,” reports Marilyn Hagy. “They were wonderful! We kept them very busy, and they were so helpful in getting some much-needed tasks accomplished. Also, if anyone from the University is interested in doing some community service on their own we'd be happy to have them.” “The group from Arcadia yesterday was superb—they really worked hard and hopefully had some fun with some of our residents, too,” says Jacqueline Berry, Administrator and Community Relations for Lutheran Settlement House.
