Campus NewsHelp Save Energy on Thursday, 2-3 p.m. "As PECO did not have a day this summer in which high temperatures exceeded their capacity to generate, the University was not asked to 'shed its electrical load' during the summer. This has prompted PECO to request a one-hour test of our ability to shed the desired 600 KW load. This load reduction affects only our main campus, not Oak Summit or other off-campus properties. We will need to reduce our power consumption by 600 KW for one hour on Sept. 10, between 2 and 3 p.m. "We will still have lighting, and all systems and services, with the exception of certain Large HVAC systems and any other non-critical electrical systems, will be taken out of service for the one-hour time period. Since the weather is expected to be between 70 and 80 degrees, we do not anticipate a significant rise in interior room temps, as one hour will not be long enough to drastically alter room temps to the extreme. We may see an increase of a few degrees during that time. It is our intention to super cool rooms, as much as we can, leading up to this event to further mitigate temperature increases."
