Look Who's Coming to Arcadia

The June 22 issue of the Eagle wrote that Governor Mifflin High School student Rich Schlamowitz, who is a third baseman/pitcher, hit a team-high .413 with eight doubles, one home run and 20 RBIs. He also compiled a 2-2 record with a 3.82 ERA. He plans to attend Arcadia.

Some incoming first-year students are already making news. The June 20 issue of The Evening Sun reported the “Best and Brightest” Honorees recognized by the Hanover Area Chamber of Commerce. One of the honorees was Ashley Trump, from New Oxford High School, who is planning to attend Arcadia. In high school, Trump was in the National Honor Society, Distinguished Honor Roll, and she received the American Field Service Merit Scholarship. In the same issue, The Evening Sun also reported another honoree, Megan Robinson, from South Western High School. Robinson was in the National Honor Society, South Western Academic Award, was on the Distinguished Honor Roll and was named to Who’s Who Among American High School Students. Robinson plans to attend Arcadia, majoring in communications.

On June 13, The Wayne Independent published an article on recent graduates from Honesdale High School, two of whom plan to attend Arcadia. Kacie Coklin plans to major in nursing, and Brita Krempasky will major in Fine Arts. In the same issue, The Wayne Independent also wrote that Monika Ferrer, from Western Wayne High School, plans to attend Arcadia and major in Psychobiology. In High School, Ferrer was involved in many extracurricular activities, including Future Business Leaders of America, STARS (computer club), Tobacco Free Youth, Evirothon, VP Foreign Language Club, National Honor Society, Treasurer of the Western Wayne Science Club, Winter Walking Club, Reading Team, Recycling Committee, Newspaper, Science Olympiad, Engineering Day, and Bowling League.

On June 12, the Daily Review wrote about the 67th Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival. One of the candidates for Laurel Queen was Amber Abernathy, who was there representing her school and community. Abernathy has been in cross country, softball, and cheerleading. She has been involved in reading competition, scholarship challenge, and has been a class officer. She read the daily morning announcements, and was in the Future Business Leaders of America. Abernathy has earned academic and athletic awards, and plans to attend either Arcadia or Shippensburg, where she will major in early childhood and elementary education.

The Republican reported on June 11 that the Home Builders Association of Western Massachusetts recognized eight member scholarship program recipients, six vocational scholarship tool acquisition award recipients, and two vocational scholarship recipients. Among the recipients is Victoria LeMay, a graduate of Monson High School, who will attend Arcadia University.

On June 11, the Mountaintop Eagle reported a list of people who have been rewarded with a scholarship or an award. In the list was Christy Keller, who received a scholarship to go to Arcadia.
