Campus NewsNew Royalty Rules Threaten; Help Save the ARC The ARC needs your help to keep their station alive. While the ARC and Internet radio stations around the country are petitioning Congress to overrule these decisions, Arcadia’s radio station also will be making backup plans in case our efforts go unheard. As part of this plan, the ARC is holding its bi-annual fundraiser ARC-AID during the first week of April. DJs from the radio station will be in The Chat from 2:30 to 7 p.m. every day of the week accepting donations that will go toward keeping the station running. They also will be holding a Charity Auction on Thursday, April 5, at 8 p.m. in The Chat, from which half the profits will go to Joey Ramone’s Lymphoma Research Center and the other half to keeping the ARC online. Also, Starting Monday, April 9, the ARC will be locking Nick Luchko, Cat Mattingly and Rebecca Adams, Housing Area Coordinators, in the station. Each dollar donated keeps them locked up for an additional three minutes; enough money keeps them there all week long! You also can support the ARC almost effortlessly by visiting their Web site (http://radio.arcadia.edu) using Internet Explorer and then simply download and install the Web browser Mozilla Firefox from the main page. Each installation results in a $1 donation from Google to the ARC. Adam Ochonicki ’08 was on KYW1060 AM on Tuesday morning to discuss the future of Internet radio with John Ostapkovich. Also, keep an eye out this week for an article in The Philadelphia Inquirer regarding the ARC’s battle against the Copyright Royalty Board.
