The status of Arcadia University's Physical Therapy Department is generally very good. In February 2009, 53 of the initial 55 students graduated (96 percent retention) and 50/53 (94 percent) passed the licensure exam on the first attempt. Read more.

PT Faculty Endow Scholarship
Faculty members in the Department of Physical Therapy have participated in At Home & In the World—The Campaign for Arcadia University by establishing an endowed scholarship to help assist students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Read more.
McClure Elected APTA Fellow
In recognition of his accomplishments in the classroom, as a researcher, and in clinical practice, Dr. Philip McClure, Professor of Physical Therapy and Director of the Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy program, has achieved the highest honor an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) member can receive. Stackhouse Wins Lindback Foundation Award
Dr. Scott K. Stackhouse, Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy, received the Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching at Honors Convocation. Stackhouse also is an Arcadia alum, having earned his M.S. in Physical Therapy here in 1997. Read more.

Alumni Association Hosts Annual Continuing Ed. Course
Earn up to 10 CEUs at Arcadia. On Saturday, March 13, 2010, Arcadia's Physical Therapy Alumni Association will host its annual Continuing Education course on campus to help raise funds for physical therapy student scholarships. The topic of this year's course will be medical screening. The CEUs will benefit physical therapists who want to maintain their direct access authorization. Speakers include Bob Howard, M.D.; Amy Miller, PT, '04D.P.T.; Andrew Rosenzweig, M.D.; and Angela Tate, PT, Ph.D.

14 D.P.T. Graduates Earn Distinction
Fifty-five students earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree during Arcadia University's Doctor of Physical Therapy Commencement on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009.
Dr. Pamela Duncan, a nationally and internationally renowned physical therapist, epidemiologist and professor at Duke University, gave the Commencement address. Amanda Funk '09D.P.T. gave the Physical Therapy student address, and the national anthem was led by fellow graduate Heidi Erin Fries '09D.P.T. Read more.
Dan Aaron Clinic Celebrates Five Years of Impact on Patients and Students
This year, the Dan Aaron Stay Fit Exercise Program is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Since its inception, the program has grown remarkably, while positively influencing patients and enhancing the education of 264 Physical Therapy students.
“We are excited about the growth in the program and the opportunities offered to those who need exercise, their families and our PT students,” says Dr. Carol Leiper, Professor Emeritus and Director of the program. “The students have been overwhelmingly positive about their experiences and have gained a newfound understanding of how families cope with a chronic disease.” Read more. Transitional D.P.T. Enrollment More Than Doubles
The transitional D.P.T. program has grown significantly since moving to its online format last year. The program has grown from 36 students in 2007 to 80 students in 2009. Currently, there are a total of 50 students enrolled in the fall courses, Diagnostic Imaging and Pharmacology. Read more.

Class of 1999 Celebrates 10-Year Reunion
The Class of 1999 celebrated its 10-year Reunion in June 2009. Classmates joined together at Arcadia during Reunion Weekend to reminisce and catch up with colleagues and friends.
The Class has been contributing a great deal to the field of Physical Therapy in the Philadelphia area and around the country. Though many had the opportunity to catch up in June, several classmates were unable to attend. See what they are doing, here.
Thrush Receives First Sisenwine Berger PT Award
Aaron Heisey Thrush '09D.P.T. was awarded the Jill Sisenwine Berger Physical Therapy Award on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at the Physical Therapy Commencement ceremony. Thrush is the first recipient of this award, which is presented to a physical therapy student who best exemplifies the core values of the physical therapy profession—accountability, altruism, compassion and caring, excellence, integrity, professional duty and social responsibility. Strittmatter Wins APTA Award
Andrew Strittmatter '08 was among a team of researchers who recently received the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) Research Award for Best Submission at this year’s Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association (PPTA) meeting. The title of the presentation was “Relationships Between Pectoralis Minor Muscle Length, Shoulder Dominance, and Subacromial Impingement Syndrome in Overhead Athletes.” Read more.
