Arcadia's M.B.A. Program Eligible for Accreditation (Continued)

In order to gain accreditation, Arcadia must complete a self-study. This assessment illustrates the ways in which Arcadia is complying with the quality standards established by the ACBSP. The process also includes a site visit, which Arcadia anticipates happening by the end of the year. ACBSP focuses on promoting excellence in the classroom, so Arcadia will reveal the University’s commitment to a global perspective, personal attention and integrative learning.

The benefits of having accreditation are limitless. Students participating in an ACBSP-accredited program know they are receiving the most current, relevant and innovative instruction. Also, earning a degree from an accredited institution gives their résumés an extra edge over the competition. For Arcadia, accreditation reinforces a commitment to continuous improvement, boosts the University’s reputation for having a quality program and enhances the sense of pride felt within the program.

“Accreditation from the ACBSP will help Arcadia ensure that the M.B.A. curriculum maintains high-quality standards and remains consistent with the needs of the professional community,” says Dr. Tony Muscia, Executive Director of Arcadia’s M.B.A. with an International Perspective.

M.B.A. Now Offers Five Concentrations and Certificates (Continued)

The M.B.A. with a concentration is a 40-45-credit program that can be completed within 24 months. The three business concentrations and certificates are Entrepreneurship, Finance, and Leadership. Each Certificate of Graduate Studies consists of five specialized courses worth 15 credits each. However, because two of the required courses are embedded within the international M.B.A. program, students only need to add three additional courses for a business concentration.

The Health Practice Management certificate and International Peace and Conflict Resolution concentration are collaborative partnerships with other Arcadia academic programs. The IPCR concentration/certificate is designed so that students can receive a dual certificate from Arcadia and the University for Peace in San Jose, Costa Rica. These interdisciplinary concentration tracks require 40 credits for an M.B.A. degree or 15 credits for a Certificate of Graduate Studies.

In addition, the five courses in each concentration are packaged as a standalone Certificate of Graduate Studies. These certificates offer students an opportunity to specialize in one of the five concentration areas with the ability to complete the M.B.A. program after the certificate.

“Over the past year the world has changed, competition for your career is fierce,” says Muriel Lange '07M.B.A. “If you can hone in on a specific discipline, you add immediate value to your employer and secure your future.” Lange adds that students with a specialized M.B.A. graduate with an advantage over their peers.

IPCR and MBA Departments Collaborate to Offer New Concentration (Continued)

“The pairing of the M.B.A. and IPCR programs makes sense,” says Sherry Levin, Program Manager of the IPCR program. “Development issues are linked to conflict prevention, resolution, stability and sustainable peace. There is so much one can learn from the other, if inspired M.B.A. graduates merge the disciplines they can use their skills to change the world.”

Two of the courses are offered through the University for Peace in San Jose, Costa Rica, and are delivered in a blended format that includes online classes and travel to Costa Rica. The program helps graduates to understand and appreciate the value of multiculturalism and diversity within a global business community and encourages students to explore themes and debates within the field of IPCR. Graduates also will gain a global perspective with the ethical and intellectual foundations that are needed to confront current and emerging challenges to peace.
